Zack Snyder Netflix science fiction epic Rebel Moon It ended up being so epic that Netflix decided to release it in two parts. The first half, A child of fire, debuted during the holiday season. Final, The ScargiverThere is now just one month left until its streaming release.
In this second half of the story, the reunited heroes (think Rebels) who were brought together in the first film to defend a remote planet from the evil forces of the Mother World (think Empire of Star Wars) are finally ready to help their friends defend themselves from an invasion. Clearly inspired by a combination of Star Wars It is The Magnificent Seven (or Seven Samuraiif you will), the first film didn’t really do much more than put all the pieces in place for this conclusion.
And the full trailer for the finale certainly looks action-packed! Take a look below:

While I’m curious to see how the second half of the story plays out, I can’t pretend I was a huge fan of the first part of Rebel Moon. As I wrote in my review of Part One: A Child of Fire…
The constant location changes, along with all that interesting character and production design, mean that Rebel Moon is never boring to watch. It’s everything else about Rebel Moon that’s boring. The characters are all generic types of other things: The mysteriously gifted hero who fell from the sky (Sofia Boutella’s Kora); the fallen general in search of redemption (Titus, by Djimon Hounsou); the charming smuggler with a heart of gold (Charlie Hunnam) and so on. All the actors are great, but they don’t bring anything new or memorable to the table. And just when Kora gathers her magnificent seven, the film stops abruptly.
Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is set to premiere on Netflix on April 19. Unlike the first film, it will not have a limited theatrical release before its streaming debut.
