Brittany Cartwright felt like she had no choice but announce a separation in Jax Taylorwhile counting down the days until the premiere of your new show.
Talking to ET’s Brice Sander at the premiere of The valley on Thursday, the Vanderpump Rules star, 35, said that although she doesn’t want to share exactly which incident was the catalyst for their split, she thinks fans will see the build-up throughout the season.
“Throughout the season, you’ll see things here and there and then things get worse when the cameras are turned off,” Cartwright said. “I’ve kind of reached my limit and I can’t take it anymore after nine years, you know?”
Concerned about sharing details, Cartwright told ET that a lot of his issues go back to fan stuff Vanderpump Rules have pointed out in the past, including Taylor’s criticism of her and those she loves.
“I don’t know how much I can reveal right now, but I like being constantly looked down on,” she said. “Honestly, I deserve to be elevated as the queen that I am.”
As for what would lead to a reconciliation, Cartwright says her husband has a list of five things that would need to happen before he could even think about getting back together. Still, she says she’s not sure if this is what she wants in the long term and that, for now, she’s focused on the most important guy in her life: their 2-year-old son, Cruz.
“I go back and forth. I have my days where, of course, I wish I was – I loved him and I went through everything with him and I stood by him through so many things,” the PRV said the alum. “But how much can a person take, you know? At the end of the day, Cruz is the most important thing in my life and he is what matters.”
As for Taylor, he says he’s also unsure what the intended outcome of the split is. Speaking separately from his ex-wife to ET, the 44-year-old House of Villains star has clearly stated that while he can understand why some might believe it’s all a publicity stunt, his struggles couldn’t be more real.
“I want to make it very clear that this is not a publicity stunt. I feel like this would be the most disgusting way to promote your show, so I want to make this clear, that’s not what’s going on here,” Taylor said. . “People go through difficult things in marriage, we are trying to understand things a little. But that doesn’t stop us from working together, we’re adults.”
He added that they have had “communication issues for some time now” and that despite these issues, they are still making it work not just for their son, but for the promotion of The valley.
“It doesn’t affect how we educate our children, it doesn’t affect our jobs – we’re a brand, we do things together, we’re adults,” he said. “We just need to work on the marriage a little.”
Just a week after the couple announced their split, ET exclusively confirmed that Bravo took cameras back to capture the consequences of separation. 1st season of The valley finished last year and it looks like the new footage will air towards the end of the show’s debut season.
