Member of the band Hole Anthony Walker – famously known as “Child Hole” – has died… TMZ has learned.
Dr. Eric WalkerAnthony’s younger brother told TMZ… the singer and musician passed away in an Ohio hospital last Monday – after suffering problems due to a neck surgery he was processing.
It’s unclear what exactly the process was intended to fix or what went wrong – but we’re told Anthony died because of it. His brother told us that the artist’s life will be celebrated in his hometown, Chicago, later this week.
Anthony’s family tells us they thank his followers for their love and support during this tragic time.
Anthony joined the famous R&B/Funk band in 1979… contributing to the group as a dancer, choreographer and composer. Despite his late addition to the group – formed in 1967 – Anthony continued to play with the GAP Band for the next 23 years as a core member.
The Hole Band notably appeared on “Dick Clark’s American Bandstand”, “Don Cornelius’ Soul Prepare” and “Stable Gold”. Anthony even did some moonwalking for Dick himself that day… and he showed him how to do the cool move that Michael Jackson became popular at the time.
In 1985 Anthony had a significant musical breakthrough due to a collaboration with Charles Wilson — lead singer of the band GAP — and bandmate Younger Billy …while collectively producing the “Billy & Child Hole” album. Not only was it the first album released as part of a band member collaboration, but its single “Rock the Nation” reached number three on the charts.
Throughout his long career, Anthony has also collaborated with music legends Rick James It is George Clinton. You’ll even hear Anthony’s percussion skills in Snoop Doggthe single “Snoop’s Upside Ya Head.”
Anthony not only had success with the GAP Band… he formed a famous break-dance group, known as “Tidal Wave”, in the 70s. They already beat the famous New York City Breakers in the competition… in addition to winning several other awards during your race.
There is no doubt that dance played an important role in Anthony’s career… he taught at John TravoltaDance studio in the early 80s and even worked as a choreographer for Disney.
Before his passing, Anthony spent his time performing with GapX… a group made up of other former Hole Band members. He was 60 years old.
