Drake Bell is finally telling his story about how Brian Peck molested him as a teenager – detailing the case at the time… a period during which celebrities came forward to support their attacker.
The new ID doc ‘Quiet on Set’ has had its media embargo lifted, and people who saw an early screening – including us – are breaking down exactly what Drake says here… and it’s very difficult to watch.
Drake goes into detail about what happened between him and his former speech coach – saying that Brian drove a wedge between him and his father at that time, who worked as Drake’s manager… and who apparently suspected Brian.
In terms of how the abuse began, Drake says Brian isolated him a lot while working on Nickelodeon shows — and he often ended up working out at Brian’s house. One day, after falling asleep on his couch, Drake says he woke up to find Brian sexually assaulting him.
From there, Drake says things got worse… and the abuse became more repetitive – and he says he felt trapped by a dark secret. Eventually, he broke down and confessed to his mother. As soon as his mom found out, they got the police involved—and Drake says he told them everything. He also claims that he got Brian to confess to the police in a recorded phone call.
Eventually, Brian was arrested on multiple charges… but he pleaded no contest to just two – performing a lewd act with a 14 or 15 year old boy and oral copulation with a 16 year old.
One of the doc’s most surprising revelations is that when Brian was about to be sentenced, he had a shitload of famous people and friends appear on his behalf in court… and not only that, but several stars wrote the character letters in his name, including some big names.
Pod meets the world
James Marsden wrote one, as did Taran Killam… not to mention ‘Boy Meets World’ stars Rider Strong and Will Friedle – who have already expressed regret over it in recent weeks.
‘Growing Pains’ star Joanna Kerns also wrote a letter to Brian, but came forward in the document to say she only did so based on misinformation. The late Alan Thicke also wrote a letter of support… as did ‘Suite Life of Zach & Cody’ directors Rich and Beth Correll.
Peck briefly worked on ‘Suite Life’ after serving his 16-month prison sentence following conviction. We’ve reached out to Marsden and Killam… so far, no response.
“Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” premieres over two nights on ID, from 9pm to 11pm ET/PT, on March 17th and 18th.
