Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi says that Glenn Maxwell’s catch cost his team dearly. Shahidi believes Afghanistan won because of Maxwell’s save. On Tuesday, Australia defeated Afghanistan by three wickets.
Chasing the target of 292 runs, the Australian team lost seven wickets for 91 runs, but the match was changed by Maxwell’s magical innings. Kangaroo scored unbeaten 201 runs in 128 balls with the help of 21 fours and 10 sixes and took Australia to the semi-finals by winning in a record innings.
Afghanistan’s poor fielding
Maxwell got a lot of life support from Afghanistan. Maxwell took full advantage of Afghanistan’s poor fielding. Mujeeb ur Rahman dropped an easy catch to Maxwell. Captain Shahidi also caught Maxwell at mid-off. Then Maxwell’s attack started troubling the Afghanistan team, due to which the match slipped.
What did Hashmatullah Shahidi say
Very weak performance. Cricket is an entertaining game. It remained uncertain for us. Participated in the match. Our bowlers started well, but we suffered a drop catch. Maxwell still did not stop. He played every kind of shot, and I thank him for that. The main reason for our defeat in my opinion was the drop catch. Then Maxwell played better. Our bowlers tried their best, but Maxwell did not give us any opportunity.
Praise for Ibrahim Zadran
Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said that he is proud of his team and the entire team will try to make a big comeback in their last league match. Shahidi also praised Ibrahim Zadran, Afghanistan’s first batsman to score a century in the World Cup.
