November 6: A day after Pratima, deputy director of the Bengaluru Mines and Geology Department, was found dead in state capital Doddakalasandra, police on Monday said her former car driver has been arrested.
On Sunday, Pratima, a 45-year-old senior geologist working as Deputy Director in Bengaluru Rural District, was murdered at her home.
His throat was first strangled and then he was stabbed with a sharp weapon.
Police said that the jurisdictional Subramanyapura police immediately started investigation and arrested three people on the basis of suspicion. One of them called former driver Kiran a murderer.
The accused, who worked on a contract basis, was dismissed last week.
The police had accused him of leaking important information to the officers. The dead statue asked him about this and reprimanded him. Kiran was dismissed because she did not change her behavior and continued leaking information.
The accused hated Pratima and decided to kill her. He knew that Pratima lives alone in her flat. On Saturday night, he entered her room and strangled her to death. They also slit his throat.
On Saturday night, Pratima’s brother Pratish called her, but could not be contacted. Came to the flat in the morning when the call went unanswered again. When the door did not open even after ringing the bell, he tried to go out through the window and saw her dead body.
The police first discovered that Kiran had gone missing and his phone was also switched off. He was arrested by the police while going towards Chamarajanagar.
Pratima lived in Gokul Apartment. She was working in Ramnagar district.
Further investigation is still going on.
