Here’s what led social media to think Erykah Badu had already thrown shade at Bey
On March 20, Beyoncé took to Instagram to share a Photograph in the promotion of ‘Cowboy Carter’.
Later that day, Badu republished the film with a brief word: “Hmmm.”
Social media users immediately jumped in Shade Room Reviews, believing Badu was throwing shade at Bey. Users seemed to believe that Badu was shading Bey for the crimped hairstyle she wore in the photo, which Badu also famously adorns.
At the time, Instagram user @kellyglassthejournalist wrote: “We love you, Badu, but this look is reserved for all black people, not just you!
While Instagram user @lilromaxd_ added, “@erykahbadu jealous of Queen Bey 😍😮? When she paid tribute to you several times.”
Badu’s supposed shade also seemed to prompt a comment from Bey’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure.
Roommates, do you think Erykah Badu ever threw shade at Bey? Or was it all just a misunderstanding?
