By relaxing the rules regarding its cultivation and possession marihuana the Czech Ministry of Justice should continue.
In particular, it proposes legalizing the cultivation of up to three cannabis plants and the possession of up to 50 grams of dried cannabis at home.
The proposed amendment to the Livestock Code clarifies that it will be legal to possess up to 25 grams of dried cannabis outside the home. “Legalization only concerns cultivation and possession for personal use by people over 21 years of age,” the bill emphasizes.
When will it come into effect?
To come into effect, the amendment must be approved by the government and parliament and sanctioned by the president.
The Ministry of Justice highlighted that the project is based on changing perceptions about the recreational use of marijuana by adults.
Possession of four to five plants or 51 to 100 grams of dried cannabis at home, or up to 50 grams outside the home, will be considered a misdemeanor.
However, possession of a larger quantity will be considered a crime, the ministry clarified.
