New bodycam footage from the arrest of Ryan Wesley Rouththe alleged candidate Donald Trump killer, explains why the Martin County Sheriff William Snyder “was surprised” by the capture.
Watch the video… Routh is seen calmly walking backwards with his shirt pulled up over his head as sheriff’s deputies holding guns shout instructions at him. The suspect barely utters a word as he follows instructions to the letter… maintaining his composure as he surrenders to authorities, who place a pair of handcuffs on him.
He even offers his name without protest when officers ask him to identify himself… showing he wasn’t shaken during the high-profile arrest.
We caught up with Sheriff Snyder on “TMZ Live” on Monday, where the officer said he and his officers were initially taken aback by Routh’s suspiciously calm demeanor during the arrest … but it later reassured them that they had the right guy.

He added… “I got there right after the (traffic) stop. He was as casual as if he was going to a Sunday service. He never asked why he was being stopped. He gave no explanation.”
As TMZ previously reported… a the search was conducted in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday after a suspected killer appeared with an AK-style rifle in a bush hundreds of meters away where Donald Trump played golf at his club.
A Secret Service agent spotted the culprit before the shot was fired… and reportedly scared off the would-be shooter by firing into the area — prompting the suspect to drop his weapon and flee in a nearby SUV.
The suspect in question was identified later as Ryan Wesley Routh… who was stopped and seized by Martin County sheriff’s deputies on a Florida highway 50 miles north of the president’s former golf club.
Routh remains in custody and was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number… however, more charges are expected.
