Previous generation Skoda Superb will soon be launched in India via CBU route
Skoda is all set to reintroduce its flagship sedan, the Superb, in the Indian market. Scheduled to launch on April 3, 2024, the B8 generation Superb is expected to make a notable comeback, this time being imported via the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route.
According to leaked internal documents, Skoda intends to initially bring a limited batch of 100 units, with an estimated price of around Rs. 55 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Superb will be relaunched in the top-of-the-line ‘L&K’ variant, boasting a range of premium features including Adaptive Auto LED headlights, LED fog lamps with cornering function, 17-inch Stratos alloy wheels, Columbus infotainment system with Wired Smart Link, 12-inch ventilation. front seats with electrical adjustment and massage function for the driver’s seat. In addition, it will also come with wireless charging, a Canton sound system with 11 speakers, 3-zone automatic climate control and a digital instrument panel.
Safety features include dynamic chassis control, electronic differential lock, active tire pressure monitoring, parking assist with 360-degree camera, emergency braking assist and a comprehensive suite of 9 airbags.
Under the hood, the Skoda Superb B8 will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 188 PS at 4,200-6,000 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,450-4,200 rpm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. There will be no diesel engine on offer.
Skoda will offer three color options with the Superb at launch – Rosso Brunello, Water World Green and Magic Black.
The Czech brand will clear the stock of the current generation Superb before planning to introduce the new generation B9 Superb in the Indian market. For now, we will have the B8 Superb. The new generation sedan could be launched next year and we can expect petrol and diesel engine options with the new generation model.
