Here’s How Amanda Bynes Reportedly Reacted to the Proposal
According to TMZ, “sources with direct knowledge” spoke to the outlet and shared that Bynes was approached to appear in the four-part docuseries. However, the 37-year-old reportedly declined to participate because “she just hadn’t had a bad experience” while working at Nickelodeon.
Additionally, sources revealed that Bynes “didn’t go through what the ‘QOS’ guys did.”
Furthermore, they stated that the former ‘Amanda Show’ actor did not watch the documentary series. However, they explained that Bynes is “grateful” to have started at Nickelodeon and the platform that launched her career.
The actor’s parents reportedly weighed in
According to the outlet, sources also disclosed that Bynes’ parents, Rick and Lynn, were also invited to participate in ‘Quiet On Set’. However, like their daughter, they reportedly refused.
Sources shared that Rick and Lynn are “private people and wanted to stay out of the spotlight.”
However, sources added that the couple watched the docu-series and “were saddened and disgusted by the allegations.”
Ultimately, sources maintained that neither Bynes nor her parents had the same experience as other Nick actors, “which is why it didn’t make sense” for them to participate in ‘Quiet On Set.’
Here’s what was revealed in ‘Quiet On Set’
As The Shadow Room previously reported, the four-part docu-series aired on March 17 and 18. The show explored the “toxic and dangerous culture” of children’s shows popular between the 1990s and 2000s.
During the series, Bynes’ former Nick co-star Drake Bell revealed that he was sexually assaulted at age 15. Bell explained that this happened at the hands of the company’s dialogue coach, Brian Peck.
Additionally, several former actors and crew members alleged that Nick producer Dan Schneider fostered an “uncomfortable” work environment. Additionally, Schneider was also accused of “sexualizing” children and writing racist sketches.
In response, Schneider admitted that the series made him feel “horrible and regretful and regretful,” for The Shadow Room.
However, despite his response, Schneider’s statements motivated more former Nick stars – such as Alexa Nikolas from ‘Zoey 101’ and Allie DiMeco of ‘The Naked Brothers Band’ – to share their experiences on set.
