The body of Riley strain – the Missouri college student who went missing in Nashville 2 weeks ago – has finally been found… and was recovered from a river in the area.
His corpse was discovered Friday in the Cumberland River, reportedly eight miles away from the metropolitan city center… where Riley was last seen after becoming separated from his group during a night of bar hopping on Aug. 8. March.
Officers say no foul play is suspected at this time, and no trauma was observed. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending. It’s unclear where exactly Strain’s body was found in the river or under what circumstances… but it marks the end of a tragic saga.
Strain first disappeared on a Friday night – this after being kicked out of Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge bar on Broadway… at which point he left alone.

Surveillance footage released to the public showed Strain aimlessly wandering the streets of Nashville — at times appearing distraught and stumbling. At other points in footage of him from that night released since then — including the body camera video — Strain appeared largely coherent.

The bar says it asked Riley to leave after he began violating its conduct policies — suggesting he was heavily intoxicated — but also insists they didn’t overserve him.
There were allegations that the bar had given out too many drinks that night – but 32 Bridge says their records show he was only given one drink and two waters before being kicked out… at which point the bar says his friends didn’t leave with he. Tennessee ABC is investigating the excessive claim.
Meanwhile, Strain’s friends say he told them he would meet them at the hotel, just a few blocks away, but he never showed up later.
Instead, it appears that Strain got lost and headed toward the river – where different eyewitnesses say they saw him that night… confirmed by the fact that his bank card was recently discovered near that area as well. Search teams have been scouring the river for days and haven’t found anything… that is, until today. No word on who found him.
Strain’s family has been in Nashville since the beginning… asking for the public’s help and pressuring police to bring in more resources to find him. A family spokesperson told us that his mother and father believed he might still be alive.
Tension was only 22 years old.
