Meri Brown leaving Sister Wives? Say it isn’t so!
But then again, she certainly held out as long as she could. Much longer than most fans wanted, in fact.
As has been well documented for over a year now, the veteran Sister Wives star gave Kody Brown and his plural marriage every opportunity possible.
Until Kody made it clear he was NOT in love with her for longer.
Now the question remains, with season 19 of Sister Wives on the horizon, will she return? The answer is yes… but not for long.
Meri Brown Survives Sister Wives Family and Kody Brown
Let’s review our history:
In January 2023, Meri and Kody announced their breakup of their marriage. They married on April 21, 1990, and welcomed their first and only child together, Leon Brown, on July 29, 1995.
Three years later, Kody married his second wife, Janelle, in a spiritual ceremony, and the beginning of their plural family began. He married his third wife, Christine, in 1994 and his fourth wife, Robyn, in 2010.
Meri and Kody officially divorced in 2014, but that wasn’t the end of their relationship. She did it so that Kody could legally marry Robyn and adopt her three children from her previous marriage.
Maybe that’s where the trouble started. But if it did, it was a slow burn.
Meri and Kody announced their separation at a press conference Instagram posted in January 2023, almost a decade later.
“After more than a decade of working on our relationship in unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently end our marital relationship,” the statement read.
“Throughout this process, we are committed to kindness and respect for each other and all members of our family, and we are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace and love.”
Yes, about that.
Meri’s relationship with Robyn and the other wives
After the separation, many things happened at the same time.
For starters, it was clear to fans who watched season 18 and the Sister Wives individual specials that Meri was having issues with the other wives and also with Kody.
“I feel like my relationship with Robyn is something that she and I are both working on and trying to figure out and navigate because it’s different,” Meri told host Sukanya Krishnan in part three of Sister Wives Special.
Meri went on to say that she’s not “100 percent emotionally ready” to get along with Kody’s only remaining wife.
In this same episode that aired on December 10, Meri emphasizes that she is a single woman. As a result, her relationships with Robyn, Janelle, and Christine have changed tremendously.
Meri says she can count on her close friend Jenn, who she spends a lot of time with in Utah these days.
“I know she doesn’t go around badmouthing me,” Meri says in the special, taking a swipe at her former sister wives.
And they are her EX-sister wives, Meri now wants to make clear.
“They don’t support me,” Meri tells Krishnan about Janelle, Christine, and Robyn. “Oh, by the way, I don’t have any sister wives, just so you know.”
Just weeks earlier, TLC viewers witnessed how Meri was despised of a large family gathering.
There is an obvious tension here.
‘Sister Wives’ Season 19: Will Meri Brown Return?
So now the big question is: will there be a season 19?
Given the fact that Kody is no longer married to 3 of the 4 wives he originally had, is there really a Sister Wives show to be had?
The answer, in short, is yes. Another season of Sister Wives is on the way, and Meri is on board to return.
Whatever drama is going on between the other women and Meri, they are all still part of the TV family and are returning. For his part, confirmed in Miss Understood Podcast with Rachel Uchitel that she would return for season 19.
“I’m around,” she insisted, though she didn’t give any details about filming the show. She simply added, “I’m very excited. I’m not going anywhere.”
Being “around” doesn’t seem like a big commitment, but we’ll take it anyway.
Meanwhile, although TLC and Kody have not confirmed the show’s return, Christine Brown and Janelle Brown spoke to Entertainment Tonight and also insisted that another season was on the way.
“We’re going to do it exactly how we would do it in real life,” Christine said of how another season would work.
“There will be times when we’re in the same room together, and you’ll see in the next season, there will be times when we’re in the same room together for the sake of the kids. We’ll be cordial because it’s about our kids. We’ll be adults. And we’ll be apprehensive and nervous and not really sure if it’s a good idea, but then you get into it and it’s okay.”
