Boyy GlueThe pop singer-songwriter who collaborated with the likes of The Avalanches and MGMT, despite his back problems, passed away on Sunday… and his family is reeling from the loss.
The musician’s father, José Urango Jr.is now talking to TMZ about the painful chain of events leading up to the passing of his son, aka, Matthew Urango. He says it was Matthew’s twin brother who made the devastating discovery – he went to test the glue on the mattress and discovered he wasn’t breathing.
Joseph says paramedics were called but it was, tragically, too late and Cola Boyy was pronounced dead at the scene.
We were told that CB was on oxygen while at home and yet he became addicted when his brother found him.
His family believes his death was related to his health problems. IYDK, Cola Boyy was born with spina bifida, scoliosis, and kyphosis, but he never let his health hold him back… proudly referring to himself as the “disabled disco innovator.”
The coroner is now investigating to find out the reason for the death.
Joseph emphasized the importance of leaving behind his son… adding that he had a deep love for his fans, bandmates and especially his family.
Cola Boyy’s record label, File Makers, was the first to announce his passing, describing him in his tribute as “a soul, an ageless person, a childlike spirit with the musicianship of an earlier legend.”
He had a simple stage presence from the start when he began releasing music in 2018. He had also just wrapped work on his next album and was preparing to share it with the world this summer.
Most significantly, Cola Boyy was a pioneer in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities… TMRW Diary society demanded that disabled people be shy and docile, which sometimes weighed him down, but in no way prevented him from achieving his goals.
He was 34 years old.
