Meagan Good is opening up about her life after divorce and sharing why she ignored advice to wait to date Jonathan Majors until after his trial for assault.

Meagan Good Shares What She Learned After Divorce
On Tuesday, July 9, Good appeared as a guest on ‘TODAY‘ to talk about her role in Tyler Perry’s latest film, ‘Divorce In The Black’. In the film, Good plays a woman who is “devastated when her husband leaves their marriage,” IMDb.
As The Shadow Room As previously reported, Good’s ex-husband DeVon Franklin filed for divorce in December 2021 after nine years of marriage. While speaking to the ‘TODAY’ hosts, Good explained how her latest film has helped her heal.
“I was happy to kind of dive into this role because of her journey,” Good explained. “And her journey was one of — once she came to terms with what was happening, and realized there was nothing she could do about it, then she had to get excited about the second act of her life. And I understand that feeling very, very intimately, so I wanted to be able to show that because I want women and men to feel like, ‘Yes, I can do this’ — it feels like something is over, but something beautiful is beginning.”
Good went on to say that she and Franklin have remained friends and that she feels she is a “better person” because of this experience.

As the conversation continued, the hosts brought up Good’s romance with Majors and tried to ask how it started. In turn, Good explained that she wouldn’t say how it started. However, she believes that their relationship is full of love, respect, care, and consideration.
One of the hosts asked Good if her friends advised her to wait before starting a relationship with Majors due to his recent domestic abuse trial, which began in 2023 and concluded earlier this year.
“Uh, yeah, every friend,” Good replied before laughing. “But at the end of the day, one thing I know is that I can always look in the mirror when I trust my spirit… and when I move to the beat of my own drum. I can always look and say, ‘Okay, I’m proud of this,’ no matter what happens, I have peace in my heart, and I have harmony in my heart…”
Good explained that she takes everyone’s opinions into account. But, “at the end of the day,” she is the one who has to live her life and “be accountable” for the “choices” she makes.
“And I also want to live the life I want to live,” Good concluded.
The couple recently attended the premiere of the film ‘Divorce In The Black’
Good’s comments on ‘TODAY’ come a day after she and Majors attended the premiere of ‘Divorce In The Black’ at the Regal Times Square Theater in New York City. Good posed alongside her castmates on the carpet while also taking some pictures with her boyfriend.
The couple even kissed on the carpet.
On Tuesday, July 9, footage emerged of Majors hitting his 1.2 while at the event. One clip, recorded by Instagram user @quesiana shows the actor dancing twostep to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’.
