France secured their place in the quarter-finals of Euro2024 tonight, beating Belgium 1-0. The “tricolores” will face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the “8”.
In a very competitive game, in the first half Menian blocked De Bruyne’s shot and in the 34th minute Thuram’s header went wide.
In the second half, Bappé’s shot, in the 53rd minute, went wide of the Belgian posts. Menian said “no” again to Lukaku and De Bruyne and, in the 83rd minute, the tide turned in France’s favor. Kolo Muani shot, the ball found Vertonghen and ended up in the net.
Belgium tried to equalize in the final, but France’s defense was excellent and kept it 1-0 until the final whistle.
