Politics and rap music collided at the 2024 BET Awards… when the Vice President Kamala Harris maliciously dropped a Kendrick Lamar reference to make your point of view on the upcoming elections clear.
In a pre-recorded clip that aired during the ceremony on Sunday, Harris received a call from the host Taraji P. Henson …who was concerned with freedoms, women’s rights and the Supreme Court.
Kamala agreed that there was a lot at stake, adding, “Most of us believe in freedom and equality, but these extremists, as they say, ‘They don’t like us.'”
You’ll remember… Kendrick ratcheted up the drama in his feud with Drake calling him a “pedophile” with the May release of her diss track, “Not Like Us.”
The music shot to first place on the Billboard Hot 100… and inspired Taraji to perform a parody of the song on opening night of the BET Awards.

Although Lamar’s lyrics were about mockery, Taraji flipped the script, celebrating black culture with her rap, “It’s About Us.”
In the wake of the rivalry, could Taraji’s about-face make rivals Kendrick and Lamar think twice? Only time will tell…
