A heavy fine of 120.00 euros was applied by the General Directorate of Market and Consumer Protection of the General Secretariat of Commerce on the website www.jmctech.gr.
This is the company “JMC SA. SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRAMMING SERVICES COMPANY” that maintained the online store www.jmctech.gr.
The website was stopped immediately after the General Secretariat of Commerce took action to protect consumers.
Specifically, following an extensive audit carried out by the General Directorate of Markets and Consumer Protection of the General Secretariat of Commerce of the Ministry of Development, serious violations of consumer legislation were found, and in particular:
* Failure to deliver product orders within the agreed delivery period and failure to inform consumers about the final deadline for executing the order after the deadline has expired.
* Failure to return the money paid by consumers for the purchase of merchandise after termination of the contract and cancellation of the order.
* Misleading consumers about the availability and delivery of goods when, in fact, the company was unable to fulfill orders.
* Lack of clarification to the service.
Denial of access to the site
In addition to the administrative fine imposed on a specific company, the services of the General Secretariat of Commerce also temporarily banned access to the company’s website following a relevant order from the National Telecommunications and Postal Commission. This measure aims to immediately stop access to the company’s website in order to immediately prevent further harm to consumers of the specific online store.
Consumers are invited, if they detect phenomena of unfair commercial practices on the part of electronic businesses, to file a complaint with the General Directorate of Markets and Consumer Protection.
