The decision to accept the donation proposal to the Epirus Merchant Marine Academy, notified in Ministry of Navigation and Island Policy through a letter, from the “Athina I. Martinou Foundation” dated March 2024, the minister signed, Christos Stylianidis.
The donation concerns renovation works at AEN Épiro and amounts to a total of 250,000 euros.
In particular, the donation project includes:
- the complete renovation of the sanitary areas on the right wing, first floor of the student dormitory building (building 4), with the simultaneous creation of a housing area, which will also include a small kitchen, with the aim of requalifying the living conditions of the students of the Academy
- the complete renovation of the sanitary facilities on the first floor of the female dormitory building (building 7) and the creation of additional sanitary facilities on the ground floor of the same building.
At the same time, as part of the effort to modernize AEN schools, the Ministry of the Navy and Island Policy, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Navy and Ports, proposed the amount of 1.7 million euros for training equipment for specialization. technique, with funding from the QREN Regional Operational program.
Furthermore, the law “Energy upgrade of AEN Epirus building infrastructures”, with a budget of €686,330, was included in the ministry’s Sector Development Program, for the preparation of energy upgrade studies.
The donation contract for the relevant project was signed by the Minister of Marine and Island Policy, Christos Stylianides, Ioanna Martinou, administrator of the “Athina I. Martinou Foundation”, Anastasios Karaoglani, representative of the company “DILOS ATE”, and Dr. Georgios D . Patera, representative of the Hellenic Maritime Chamber.
The proposals and approval of the interventions were made by the Directorate of Port and Building Infrastructures of the Ministry of the Navy and Island Policy, which will also be responsible for monitoring the project until its completion.
