The third and final day of the group stage began on Sunday evening with the Group A games, after which Germany and Switzerland qualified for the “16” as first and second respectively.
The match between them, in Frankfurt, ended in a 1-1 draw, with “Manshaft” reaching 7 points and the Swiss reaching 5.
Murat Yakin’s team lost first place in injury time by holding on to win until 90+2 with Edoi’s goal in the 28th minute, before Philkrug, who came on in the 76th minute, headed the equalizer.
In the other group game, Hungary beat Scotland 1-0 in stoppage time in Stuttgart.
The Hungarians won their first points at the European Championship, in Germany, and kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams in the groups.
The goal that decided the match was scored in the 11th minute of stoppage time by Chobot. Instead, Steve Clarke’s side will return to Scotland with just one point and two defeats.
