Mamie Laverock, known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan on Hallmark’s When it calls the heartcame out of surgery and is doing well afterwards being on life support after a fall from a balcony.
“Focusing now on Mamie’s surgery today. Her body was destroyed,” read a recent update shared via Laverock’s GoFundMe page. “She had two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three-hour surgery and another surgery today. We have nothing but gratitude for the doctors and nurses who have been exemplary in caring for her since May 26th.”
“Mamie is ‘fine’ compared to when she arrived. Well because she survived these extensive surgeries,” the statement added. “She is enduring tremendous pain and continues to not give up. We can only hold on to the miracles of each day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of her story.”
Erin Krakow, co-star and executive producer of Laverock in When it calls the heart, posted an update to her Instagram Story on Sunday on behalf of Laverock’s family. The post featured a photo of Laverock and a link to her GoFundMe page, expressing the family’s “immense gratitude.” Krakow informed fans that the family would not be providing any further updates on Laverock’s health as they would be “focusing on healing.”
The 19-year-old’s family revealed through a GoFundMethat on May 26, Laverock fell five stories while in a Vancouver hospital.
“We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26, Mamie, who had been in intensive care for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit at the hospital and taken to a balcony, where she fell five stories. ” the update read. “She suffered life-threatening injuries, underwent several extensive surgeries and is currently on life support.”
According to the actress’ parents, she was rushed to a Winnipeg hospital on May 11 by her mother, Nicole Compton.
Following the news, Laverock’s When it calls the heart co-stars reacted and asked for support while she recovered.
Mitchell Kummen took to X (formally known as Twitter) to share the link to the GoFundMe page and ask for prayers.
“Please pray for my friend Mamie. We need a miracle and the power of prayer and love,” he wrote.
Johannah Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s on-screen mother Molly Sullivan, also reached out for support via the social site.
“I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for everyone caring for Mamie. Please help if you can,” Newmarch wrote. “They need all the support they can get to get through this.”
Loretta Walsh took to Instagram to ask her followers to support the young actress.
“Please donate and share if you can. Mamie and her family need our support. Link in bio. Thank you ❤️,” the Australian actress wrote alongside a screenshot of the GoFundMe homepage.
Gracyn Shinyei shared a photo on her Instagram story (which has now expired).
Krakow, took to Instagram to drum up support for the family’s fundraiser. “💔 I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you do too. Link in bio,” Krakow wrote alongside a screenshot of the GoFundMe page.
In a statement to ET, Hallmark Media said: “We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie. When it calls the heart community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort and many prayers during this difficult time.”
Laverock played Rosaleen Sullivan in several episodes of When it calls the heart from 2014 to 2023. Her performance earned her the 2015 Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series – Recurring Young Actress Age Ten and Under, as well as the 2014 Joey Award in Vancouver for Young Ensemble in a Drama Series.
So far, the GoFundMe created in Laverock’s honor has surpassed its goal of 30,000 CAD and raised more than 35,000 CAD.
