Before the release of Let there be carnage in 2021, Hardy open to ET about Eddie and Venom’s “odd couple” dynamic.
“I like seeing Eddie Brock as a professional coward,” he shared. “A kind of vain, lazy, narcissistic everyman in many ways… I think he’s a noble soul, but I just think he’s gone a certain way when Venom shows up. And it’s horrible.”
“There’s an element of existential crisis where he’s nothing without him, and he doesn’t really have much to talk about with him,” Hardy continued. “But the two of them together present this wonderful argument, this enigma, this paradox. You have this primal beast that says we should do absolutely anything we want because we can. It’s the best therapy you could have, except, you know, it means running around ripping people’s heads off and destroying buildings.”
Venom: Let There Be Carnage ended with Venom telling Eddie about the symbiotes’ knowledge of other universes, and then they were mysteriously transported to another place, where they are watching the MCU’s J. Jonah Jameson (JK Simmons) reveal Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) identity.
Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters on October 25th.
