Two heads are better than one – and are absolutely necessary for riding in the carpool lane – but you need to make sure those heads are flesh and blood… and not plastic, like this one was.
A driver learned that lesson the hard way in Santa Fe Springs, CA – a suburb in Los Angeles County, about 12 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles – when a California Highway Patrol officer pulled them over… and discovered a clothed mannequin in the passenger seat.
CHP Santa Fe Springs posted a photo of the plastic doll Thursday on Instagram … and we have to hand it to the driver — it’s pretty realistic, especially from a distance.
But not so close up… which is what the CHP officer noticed when he stopped them. The driver was arrested for crossing solid double lines on the highway… and when the officer looked closer, he realized the guy was alone in the car.
Waiting for your permission to upload Instagram media.
The CHP account joked that the mannequin’s goatee was a little too sharp — and warned others not to try the same trick… because the perpetrators will be caught and punished.
Despite the good-natured ribbing, the CHP says its officer slapped the driver with multiple citations for the incident… so it’s probably not worth trying to smuggle a Macy’s mannequin into your vehicle, regardless of how convincing it may seem.
Moral of the story… don’t be silly and leave yours at home!!!
