James It is Jennifer Crumbley met their fate Tuesday in a Michigan courtroom, where a judge handed down prison sentences of 10 to 15 years for each of them. That was the maximum sentence they faced… and Hizzoner threw the book at them. They are receiving 858 days credited for time served.
Remember… the convicted mass shooter’s mother and father were both criminally charged with involuntary homicide after his son shot and killed 4 people at his school in 2021.
Their guilty verdicts were historic… marking the first time that parents were held criminally responsible for their children’s behavior. Prosecutors argued that James and Jennifer could have prevented Ethan from starting a shootout… as there were clear warning signs.

Jennifer testified during her trial that James was responsible for hiding the gun Ethan ended up using… but in the end, a jury found each of them equally responsible for the deaths.
Prosecutors asked a judge to impose the harsh sentences – noting they have shown no remorse for their actions… or lack thereof in helping prevent the terrible tragedy.

The Crumbleys, in turn, requested supervised release, asking to be placed under house arrest — arguing that they had already served more than enough time for the crime for which they were convicted. Clearly, prosecutors got what they asked for.

As for Ethan himself… he was once sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He was just 15 years old when he carried out the shooting and is now 18. His parents have been behind bars for 2 years while their cases unfold.
Now, they will serve even more time.
