First batch of the Mercedes AMG G63 with more than 120 units sold out, reservations open for the third quarter of 2025
The Mercedes AMG G 63 facelift has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 3.60 crores (ex-showroom). The facelifted model brings a number of updates, including mild hybrid technology, revised exterior styling and improved interior features.
Major design and feature updates
The 2024 AMG G 63 receives subtle cosmetic changes. At the front, it sports a redesigned bumper with vertical slats and a dark chrome finish on the radiator grille. Aerodynamic improvements have been made, such as slightly rounded A-pillars and a new windshield lip, helping to reduce NVH levels. At the rear, a carbon fiber spare wheel cover is available as an option.
The SUV also now includes keyless entry for the first time, which required significant re-engineering without changing the G-Class’ iconic door handles.
Internal and technological improvements
Inside, the G 63 undergoes major updates with the inclusion of the MBUX infotainment system, previously seen in the GLS facelift. It has two 12.3-inch digital displays for driver information and infotainment, which now respond to touch. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system is paired with an 18-speaker, 760-watt Burmester sound system.
Other notable additions include a revamped in-dash off-road control center, temperature-controlled cupholders, a wireless mobile charging pad and a new AMG performance steering wheel. Buyers can also choose from 31 exclusive MANUFAKTUR upholstery options and 29 MANUFAKTUR paint finishes.
Mild hybrid powertrain
A significant mechanical upgrade is the introduction of a 48V mild hybrid system, which is combined with the existing 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 585 HP and 850 Nm of torque, with an additional 22 HP from the mild hybrid. system. Power is managed through a 9-speed DCT automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The G 63 now offers optional AMG Active Ride Control, Mercedes’ advanced suspension system designed to improve handling without stabilizer bars. It comes standard with the AMG Performance package, which increases the top speed to 240 km/h and includes a launch control feature. The refurbished model reaches 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
Off-road capabilities and wheel options
Despite the focus on luxury and performance, the G 63’s off-road capability remains intact. It has a ground clearance of 229 mm, a fording depth of 700 mm, an approach angle of 31 degrees and stability on slopes of up to 35 degrees. Optional 22-inch alloy wheels with central locking mechanism add to the rugged appeal.
Delivery Schedule in India
