Treating rigorously, the challenges and prospects of the Greek economy will be at the center of the new Alexis Tsipras Institute event, taking place today at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus.
According to the official program of the event, economists, politicians, experts from Greece and abroad will participate in thematic discussions and exchange views on the precision crisis and propose solutions to the challenges facing the Greek economy.
The event will close with a speech by Alexis Tsipras.
According to information, the former prime minister will argue that the challenge of the current decade cannot be other than to end our continuous path of divergence in relation to the hard core of EU countries, at all levels, in the economy, in income, in the government of law, the welfare state and public infrastructure.
Tsipras will emphasize that there are no easy solutions and answers, but there is another way. Another direction we must head immediately.
New national goal
Tsipras will also argue that a new national objective is needed, corresponding to the country’s accession and integration into the EEC in the seventies and eighties, integration into the eurozone in the nineties, the exit from the crisis and the memoranda in the ’10s.
He will emphasize that the acceleration of convergence must be done in terms of social cohesion and justice, in terms of inclusion of the popular and middle classes who strive to keep the country standing.
He will also note that what we call precision, which has been a constant and frightening pressure in recent years on middle and low incomes, is at the same time a widespread process of redistribution from the many to the few.
Finally, it will argue that the reconstruction of the Greek economy is not simply a question of plan and resources, but requires and presupposes ruptures with organized interests. A profoundly progressive reform effort in almost all institutions.
