Specifically, the day before yesterday, Thursday, October 17th, the Vice-Minister went to Lixouri, where together with the mayor Giorgos Katsivelis and self-administrative agents, they visited parts of the city where advances restoration projectsafter previous natural disasters, through emergency financingwithin the scope of the recommendations of the Government Committee on State Aid.
So they visited unsuitable public housing area de Lixouri after the 2014 earthquake, whose restoration was carried out by the State and especially by GDAEFK, followed by an open meeting with citizens and residents of public housing. During the open meeting, the study for the recovery of houses that were classified as temporarily unusable (“yellow”) was presented. The presentation was made by directors of “Building Infrastructure SA” (KTYP), following the early preparation of the aforementioned study, – after a significant period of inactivity during the five years following the 2014 earthquake that hit Lixouri, as well as reported by the ministry in a related announcement.
At the same time, the directors of GDAEFK, who undertook the recovery of the houses, participated in the presentation, describing to interested parties the need for everyone’s agreement and consent, so that the process can progress from the study phase to the implementation phase. of the project, at the same time that they mentioned the steps that will be launched for the rehabilitation of the houses that will have to be rebuilt (“red”) after the launch of the recovery of the “yellow” bars in Lixouri.
Mr Triandopoulos highlighted that the granting of rent subsidy to beneficiaries of public housing in Lixouri was extended until 2027, without requiring the lengthy annual extension process of the relevant Joint Ministerial Decision, noting that the objective of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection is for beneficiaries to receive their new homes as quickly as possible. In this sense, as the ministry points out, it is a condition that all beneficiaries defend, with residents starting – within the scope of the open meeting – to sign the respective declarations so that everyone agrees and the process that was pending can continue until now.
“We work intensively with local actors and servicesin a context of honest communication with beneficiaries, in order to restore the homes of the citizens of Lixouri, who were affected by the earthquake a decade ago. We started working hard to make up the ground lost in the years following the 2014 earthquake and, unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Now, the preparation of the study for the recovery of part of the houses, the “yellow” houses, has been completed, and the study of the second part – the “red” houses – is also underway. We had the opportunity to present the study to residents and ask for their consent, so that restoration procedures can continue, within a framework of cooperation with the Municipality of Lixouri. And this cooperation will continue so that the State can respond to a pending issue that comes from the past”, noted Triandopoulos.
Yesterday, the deputy minister had successive meetings with the deputy governor of Cephalonia and Ithaca, Sotiris Kouri, the president of the Argostoli Chamber, Theofilos Michalatos and the president of the Sami Chamber, Panagi Drakulongonas, at their headquarters in Argostoli and Sami. During the meetings, the progress of implementation of restoration projects based on emergency financing following previous natural disasters that hit the island of Kefalonia was presented, while a series of current issues of areas in which cooperation will be developed in the coming period were presented. analyzed.
