Details About Missing Philadelphia Wife and Her Husband’s Alleged Accusations
Philadelphia police said someone last saw Lola Karabaeva on October 12. However, on Wednesday, October 16, police officers discovered her body at home and arrested her husband, Vladimir Lushevskiy, 65, for abuse of a corpse.
PEOPLE reports on Wednesday (October 16), detectives discovered Lola’s body wrapped in plastic inside a closet during their search. Police discovered Lola Karabaeva’s body during the third search of the house, The Philadelphia Inquisitor states. After two previous searches with no results, officers noticed a dark stain near a closet. Removing a wooden board from the bottom of the closet revealed a trash bag sealed with tape containing Lola’s body.
Neighbors shared home security with Fox 29 News Philadelphia showing Lola Karabaeva arriving at her Northeast Philadelphia home on October 12. They reportedly said that was the last time she was seen, shortly after returning from a trip to Europe.
“I’ve lived here for nine years and I’ve never heard a scream. I’ve never heard anything bad, but it’s very upsetting to know this is happening,” a neighbor said.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of Karabaeva’s death, but are treating the case as a homicide. Authorities have not filed any additional charges against her husband, Vladimir Lushevkiy. However, they reportedly indicated that more charges could emerge as the investigation continues.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Karabaeva’s funeral expenses.

Frank Vanore, deputy commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department, mentions that investigators are looking into whether Lola’s death could be linked to an alleged argument with her husband. Reports allege the pair argued over the death of their son 20 years ago.
In 2004, while on vacation in California, the couple’s 19-year-old son disappeared and authorities found his remains six years later. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
