“Two terrorists who crossed the border a few meters to Israel and opened fire in the direction of the forces were killed by two IDF (Israeli armed forces) reservists in the Home Front Command”, the Israeli military announced today.
As reported, “several suspects” were located in the border area with Jordan who were trying to enter Israel south of the Dead Sea area and who killed two of them when they opened fire on Israeli forces.
“During the exchange of fire with the terrorists, an IDF soldier and an IDF reservist were slightly injured and taken to a hospital for medical treatment.”
The army added that Israeli security forces were still conducting investigations “due to the suspected presence of an additional terrorist in the area.”
“They were not Jordanian soldiers”
A military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said in a statement published on its website that there is “no truth” to reports that Jordanian soldiers crossed Jordan’s western border with Israel.
The Jordanian army stressed the need to obtain information from official sources and not to circulate rumors, the added font.
