Hellenic Cables, the cable division of Cenergy Holdings, has signed a partnership agreement with Leading Light Wind, one of the largest offshore wind farms in the US, located more than 40 miles off the coast of New Jersey.
Hellenic Cables will supply 65km of 132kV inter-array cables (wind turbine interconnection cables), which form part of the project’s total cabling needs. Leading Light Wind is being developed by Invenergy, the project’s main developer, in collaboration with energyRe.
It is the only wind project developed by American companies, it belongs to the New York Bay and New Jersey and will produce 2,400 MW of clean and reliable energy, enough to power up to one million homes annually, while offsetting four million tons of CO2 emissions each year when commissioned.
Delivery of the cables is scheduled for 2030, with production of certain components beginning immediately at Hellenic Cables’ state-of-the-art facility in Corinth.
