Hellenic Cables, the cable division of Cenergy Holdings, has signed a cooperation agreement with Leading Light Wind, one of the largest offshore wind farms in the USA, located more than 40 miles off the coast of New Jersey.
Hellenic Cables will supply 65km of 132kV inter-array cables (wind turbine interconnection cables), which form part of the project’s total cabling needs.
Leading Light Wind is developed by Invenergy, the project’s main developer, in collaboration with energyRe. It is the only wind project developed by American companies, it belongs to the New York Bay and New Jersey and will generate 2,400 MW of clean and reliable energy, enough to supply up to 1 (one) million homes annually, while offsetting four (4) million tons of CO2 emissions each year when it comes into operation. As highlighted by Alexis Alexiou, CEO of Cenergy Holdings, “we are very honored to collaborate on this flagship Leading Light Wind project, which strengthens the offshore wind energy supply chain in the US. Our contribution to Leading Light Wind underlines Hellenic Cables’ commitment to providing innovative solutions that support the energy transition and promote sustainability on a global scale.”
Delivery of the cables is scheduled for 2030, with production of some components beginning immediately at Hellenic Cables’ state-of-the-art facility in Corinth. This partnership strengthens the company’s position as a leader in providing innovative, high-performance solutions that meet the growing needs of the renewable energy sector. For his part, Wes Jacobs, Project Manager at Leading Light Wind, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, focused on advanced cable technology, highlighting that “this collaboration is an important milestone for Leading Light Wind and will bring innovation and efficiency to our project”. planning.”
