To the critical question of immigrant and taking action on the part of the European Union, EKPA Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Panagiotis Ioakeimidis, spoke in Shipping channel and the show “On Politics” with Filippos Filippakopoulos.
Initially, Mr. Ioakeimidis emphasized that “irregular flows of immigrants in the European Union fell by 42% in the first six months of this year. Therefore there is no worsening of immigration in Europe at the moment. However, there is an increase in discussion, movement and action. This is happening for political reasons.”
Regarding the Schengen Treaty, Mr. Ioakeimidis emphasized that “Germany began to change and imposed border controlsobeying a polar logic”.
As for her adoption of the “meloni model”Mr Ioakeimidis believes this is a “short-sighted policy”.
In closing, he stressed that “Europe’s role should be more important, more decisive”.
