Cairo’s long-awaited museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Egyptian antiquities, is partially opening its doors to the public.
In particular, some of its exhibitions opened Grand Egyptian Museumwhose construction lasted more than 20 years and its area reaches 120 hectares.
It is located near the pyramids of Giza and will include more than 100,000 itemsincluding treasures from tomb of king Tutankhamun.
OR priceless collection of the boy-king It’s not yet on display, but visitors can now see objects ranging from pharaonic statues to sarcophagi and mummified bodies.
The museum was originally scheduled to open in 2012, but costs, political unrest and, later, the Covid-19 pandemic caused repeated delays. To date, the massive scam has cost more than $1 billion.
The partial opening is provisional, following the opening of the main hall and staircase last year. The official release date has not yet been announced.
