By the end of October, a delay that exists on her part will “expire”. Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) and refers to the refund of those who paid the special tax shipsalthough based on a recent change to the Ministry of Economy and National Finance were exempt, as long as the boat was up to 7 meters long.
The problem arose when the ministry belatedly made an amendment that exempted class B pleasure boats under 7 meters from the special ship tax. The relevant decision was taken just 24 hours before the deadline for submitting applications, which ended on September 26th.
The result was that in several cases some owners had submitted the request and had already paid the tax (the deadline was September 30th) or had submitted the request, however, because they were exempt, they did not pay the amount and now appear with a debt to the tax administration 100 euros, which remained active even after the decision.
According to competent sources, all debt certificates issued for specific taxes will be eliminated by the end of the month. In fact, if late payment interest has been charged for late payment beyond September 30, which was the relevant payment deadline, these debts will be canceled free of charge. Those who have not yet paid the tax will be refunded.
According to the change, the exemption from the special tax on ships is retroactive, that is, owners of class B vessels of up to 7 meters will not pay tax for the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. As pointed out by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance , those who have already paid are entitled to a tax refund.
