Roberto SalehHis time as head coach of the Jets is up… the team just fired him.
ESPN Adam Schefter reported New York Chiefs made the decision Tuesday morning — just two days after New York went on a rampage against the Minnesota Vikings in London.
The Jets – who had Super Bowl aspirations at the start of the season – were just 2-3 under Saleh’s leadership this year… and to make matters worse for the guy, there were multiple reports that he and the star quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t agree.
In fact, last week, Saleh appeared to fight with Rodgers over his tough count. Saleh seemed to believe the unique cadence could be causing some problems for the team’s offense – but after the comment angered some people, he walked back the comment.
The two, of course, also had an awkward encounter earlier this year… where Rodgers was seen seemingly reprimanding Saleh’s attempted hug.
Setting aside Rodgers’ perceived feud, Saleh’s New York teams never had much success – they went just 20-36 in his three-plus seasons – although he did get a pass from NFL fans, as the football situation quarterback was almost always changing.
New York will now turn to its defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to lead the team…as Schefter stated, the Jets have already named him interim HC.
Rodgers and company. It won’t take them long to reunite after the firing – they play next on “Monday Night Football” against the Bills.
