An anti-Israel protester tried to set himself on fire during a rally near the White House in Washington.
Almost two hours after the start of the demonstration, with more than 1,000 protesters, a man – named Samuel Mena – approached the scene and tried to set himself on fire, according to AFP reporters.
He managed to set his left arm on fire before passersby and police rushed to his aid, putting out the flames using their keffiyehs, the traditional Palestinian scarves.
“I’m a journalist and we’re spreading misinformation,” he shouted amid cries of pain as the fire in his hand went out.
Police say the man is being treated for “non-life-threatening injuries.”
