There is not one, but two Predator films coming out next year – including a secret one whose existence has never been revealed before.
This is what Steve Asbell of 20th Century Studios said The Hollywood Reporter in a conversation about the company’s future. It turns out that Dan Trachtenberg – who did the recent Predator prequel Prey – directed two different Predator projects, and both are expected to debut in 2025.
Asbel explained…
After Prey became a hit, Dan (Trachtenberg) came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2. And we were like, “What do you want to do?” And he recited a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really cool. We actually did two of them. Two will be released next year. One I can’t talk about yet, but the other is the live-action Predator movie with Elle Fanning that just came out in New Zealand. This will be released in theaters next year.
The film with Fanning is titled Predator: Badlandswhich Asbell called “an absolutely crazy idea. It’s a science fiction thing, but it’s not what everyone thinks it is.”

But then he blurted out that in addition to Predator: Badlandsthere is “a secret Predator film that will be released before the cinema, but I can’t say anything yet.” This one they “have different plans for” – presumably being serious won’t play in theaters. (Prey was a Hulu original movie.) Whatever this other Predator the film is, and wherever it is shown, it was also directed by Trachtenberg.
If we really get two more Predator films next year, this work will mark a significant increase in production for this franchise. It took 23 years for there to be three Predator films; Original 1987, 1990s Predator 2and 2010 Predators. These two films would mark three Predators in just four years, all directed by Trachtenberg.
Predator: Badlands is scheduled to open in theaters on November 7, 2025.
