More bad news for Todd Chrisley, everyone.
The jailed former reality TV star, who is locked behind federal bars after his conviction two years ago for various types of financial fraud, he was fired from his administrative duties at the prison chapel, his lawyer, Jay Surgent, told TMZ.
We’ll give you a moment to show your little violin to Chrisley…
The 55-year-old worked as an assistant at the chapel in Pensacola for “Christians, Jews and Muslims,” according to Surgent.
“Someone saw him talking to someone from the drug rehab program,” the lawyer continued. “For no reason at all, after all this time, he was dismissed saying he can’t take it anymore.
Chrisley – described as “a religious person” by this lawyer – has previously said that believes that God actually sent him to prison.
“They had no hearing, there was no announcement, no hearing, he wasn’t aware of the fact that… he did something wrong,” Surgent told Us Weekly.
Todd was working alongside a chaplain at FPC Pensacola in Florida to help organize religious services for various faiths until authorities removed him from the position.
No one from that specific facility has yet commented on the development, but a representative from the Federal Bureau of Prisons told TMZ:
“For privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement of any incarcerated individual, including their work assignments.”
Todd and his wife Julie Chrisley were found guilty in June 2022 on 12 counts, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
The first was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with his current release date set for June 26, 2032; while Julie was sentenced to 7 years.
Meanwhile, Surgent called the decision to fire Chrisley from her job “horrible” and “absolutely ridiculous.”
Similarly, Savannah Chrisley reacted to her mother’s sentence upheld on September 25, saying it was “100 percent unfair” and adding:
“We have seen injustices happen time and time again, and the prosecutors here are absolutely ridiculous and clearly uneducated.
“What happened is an injustice and I will continue to fight for my parents and speak out as loudly as I can.”
