Kamala Harris‘The motorcade played a key role in the arrest of an alleged drunk driver in Wisconsin this week.
US Secret Service Spokesperson Joe Biesk confirmed that the vice president’s motorcade was involved in an incident Monday night in Milwaukee where a driver was “traveling in the opposite direction on the highway”… heading toward the presidential candidate.
The incident was captured on video. Check it out…you can see the driver getting too close for comfort to Harris’ motorcade as he drove on the wrong side of the road.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is a 55-year-old Milwaukee man who was driving an SUV in the wrong direction around 8:20 p.m. on Interstate 94 just as the VEEP motorcade passed through the town of Brew. . The highway would have been closed to traffic for the motorcade.
The driver stayed to the left of the road while the entire procession, made up of at least 12 vehicles, passed – before the last sheriff’s cruiser accompanying him stopped the suspect.
The sheriff’s office said deputies suspected the man was in poor health, as an open container of beer was reportedly found in his vehicle.
The driver failed field sobriety tests and the unidentified suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated and second-degree recklessly endangering safety – he remained in jail without bond as of Tuesday night, according to WISN-TV. An arrest report states that the man “nearly crashed into a vehicle in the VPOTUS motorcade.” The suspect later said he had no intention of harming Harris.
The Secret Service spokesperson added… “We are grateful to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for their response, which allowed them to stop the driver and take him into custody for driving under the influence.”
The best case scenario in what could have been a disastrous situation.
