It’s a special pre-election event in Detroit, Michigan, in the heart of the traditional automotive industry, the city that once embodied the “American dream.” The host of the night of the final stretch of the pre-election race for the White House is Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Waltz and the featured guest is rapper Eminem, also a native of Detroit.
Another famous artist who openly declares his support for the Democrats in the presidential elections on November 5th.
But there is also a surprise guest: in the background of “Lose Yourself”, perhaps Eminem’s biggest hit, the former president takes the stage Barack Obama. Not just to support Harris’ candidacy, but mainly to “troll” Republican candidate Donald Trump, in his own special way. If the Kamala Harris he simply says that “the world is tired because the trump he’s all about himself,” Barack Obama puts it differently.
“Trump: the crying billionaire”
“He doesn’t care about anything but himself,” the former Democratic president says of the current Republican candidate. “I’ve said this before: Donald Trump is a 78-year-old billionaire who he cries constantly because of the problems he has faced since leaving his golden elevator nine years ago. When he’s not crying and tweeting nonsense, he’s probably trying to sell you something…”
The latest polls show a slight lead for Kamala Harris, but it does not exceed the margin of statistical error. Everything is open. There is no doubt that Trump knows how to “sell”.
But Obama also knows how to rouse crowds. “‘If your grandfather was like this, you’d be worried'” warns Obama, commenting on Donald Trump’s recent comments and behavior. “You would call your sister or your brother or your cousin and say, ‘See how Grandpa is acting? It’s a little funny.” But (Trump) wants unchecked power. We don’t need to see an older, crazier, no-holds-barred Trump…”
“I don’t want…”
Every comment, every pre-election appearance counts. Typically, the presidential election is held on November 5, but many Americans may vote earlier, either by mail or at the polls (early voting), depending on the provisions in place in each state. According to the New York Times, 15 million voters have already exercised their right to vote and the attendance continues. However, pre-election rallies continue.
On Friday, the Republican “camp” held its own event in Detroit. Barack Obama does not fail to comment on this and, when the crowd’s disapproval begins, he intervenes to emphasize that he “does not want” it for his political opponents. “I heard he had another campaign rally on Friday night, but it was a little smaller than today… But no, don’t disapprove, vote. They cannot hear your speeches. But your vote can be heard…”.
