The increase in the number of confirmed arrests, detentions and traffic violations in the first 9 months of 2024, compared to the corresponding period of 2023, in West Attica is significant, according to data released by ELAS.
In detail, according to ELAS, in the areas of West Attica, in the first 9 months of 2024, 6,469 tour shares (increased by 73.3%), with the participation of a greater number of police officers (70.1%) from the law enforcement, security, traffic services, as well as the Attica Direct Action and Foreign departments.
Within the scope of these actions, the following were carried out:
- 101,443 vehicle checks (70% increase)
- 203,743 personal checks (67.9% increase)
- 19.1 thousand additions (increase of 13.1%) and
- 3,659 arrests for various crimes (increase of 113.7%)
while 38,794 traffic violations were confirmed (an increase of 74.6%).
New design
As highlighted in the ELAS statement, the results mentioned above are due to its new crime prevention and combat plan, which was drawn up and will be fully implemented from January 2024. The plan gave special emphasis to areas with an increase in incidents of delinquency, with the aim of reinforcing citizens’ sense of security.
“The Hellenic Police will continue its activities within the scope of operational planning to combat crime and guarantee order and security of citizens throughout the territory” concludes ELAS in its announcement.
