Kamala Harris‘The motorcade played a key role in an alleged drunk driver being taken into custody in Wisconsin this week.
US Secret Service Spokesperson Joe Biesk confirmed that the vice president’s motorcade was involved in an incident Monday night in Milwaukee where a driver was “traveling the wrong direction on the highway”… heading toward the presidential candidate.
The incident was captured on video. Check it out…you can see the driver getting too close to comfort Harris’ motorcade as he drives on the wrong side of the highway.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is a 55-year-old Milwaukee man who was driving an SUV the wrong way around 8:20 p.m. on Interstate 94 just as the VEEP motorcade passed through Brew City. The highway would have been closed to motorcade traffic.
The motive force remained to the left of the road while its entire motorcade, consisting of at least 12 vehicles, passed by – before the last of the escorting sheriff’s cruisers stopped the suspect.
The sheriff’s office acknowledged that deputies suspected the man was impaired, as an open container of beer was allegedly present in his car.
The driver failed field sobriety tests, and the unidentified suspect was arrested for second-degree drunken driving and second-degree recklessly endangering safety – he remained in jail without bail Tuesday night, according to WISN-TV. An arrest report states that the person “almost hit a car inside the VPOTUS motorcade.” The suspect later stated that he had no intention of harming Harris.
The Secret Service spokesperson added… “We are grateful to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for their response, which allowed them to detain the driver and take the driver into custody for DUI.”
The best situation in what could have been a disastrous scenario.
