The green light was given for the installation of a hybrid plant in the Amario river dam. The project will consist of a wind farm (ASPIE) in Sitia and a controlled energy production and storage system (SEPAE) in Rethymno, from TERNA ENERGIA.
The relevant decision signed by Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos was posted today in Diaugia entitled: “Granting of Installation Permit for the project “Hybrid Energy Generating Plant – Amario River Dam Project, composed of (a) Wind Energy Generating Plant (ETA) in the locations “Froudia- Lygias- Platyvolo” & “Troula- Chalkias – Korfi”, D. Sitias, PE Lasithiou and (b) Controlled Energy Production and Storage System (SEPAE) in the Municipality of Amario and Rethymno, PE Rethymno, of the Crete Region” with TERNA ENERGY AVETE as the implementing body”.
The validity period of the installation license is set at three years.
The single project includes two subprojects (hybrid system) that combine wind production from 17 wind turbines (subproject A) with a pump-saving/controlled operation scheme (subproject B).
