The investigation into their deaths
As TooFab previously reportedSnyder said he found the children hanging from the rear ends of a plastic-coated dog leash wrapped around an auxiliary beam. She led the suicide of young people; In police interviews, according to District Attorney John Adams, she stated that her son was being bullied at college and wanted to die.
Snyder allegedly told police that on the day of the killings, Conner told her he wanted to “play fort” with his younger sister in the basement — as he always did — taking two chairs and the cable with him. However, witnesses stated that the children almost never played in the basement.
After interviewing witnesses and checking CCTV footage from his school bus, police said they found no evidence of bullying, that he had never expressed any problems to anyone and that he was otherwise a completely happy child. “As far as I know, eight-year-olds don’t usually commit suicide, so of course we had questions,” Adams said at the time of Snyder’s arrest.

Giving evidence, an occupational therapist said it would have been “extremely difficult” for Conner to wrap the thread around the beam and even use the clasp himself, as he had so much dexterity he could barely tie his own shoelaces.
Google data also showed that Snyder searched for “carbon monoxide in a car, how long to die”; “’Nearly Get Away With It’, best episodes”; “hang yourself”; and “a hybrid car produces carbon monoxide”. She also visited the “Lost All Hope” website – which details suicide methods – along with the “Quick Fall/Simple Suspension” page, which explains how to grab a person.
Prosecutors said she also ordered the steel dog rope the day before the children were found hanging, having purchased it at a local Walmart.

When it comes to Google searches, defense attorneys argued that the sites can also provide information about suicide prevention.
Her mental health was also exposed at trial, with a defense psychiatrist claiming she may have been in a psychotic state at the time of the murders, while prosecutors argued there was nothing stopping her from knowing right from wrong.
According to WFMZ, one of the two instances in which she showed emotion during the trial occurred when her oldest son, Owen, referred to her by her first name and not “Mom.” He told the court he would no longer consider her as a mother, causing her to burst into tears.
She also showed no emotion during the sentencing hearing and refused to address the court’s agenda, according to the Studying Eagle. The choice also gave Snyder an additional 8 1/2 to 17 years for convictions of child endangerment and tampering with evidence — while calling the crime the most violent homicide she had ever seen.
