Jelly Roll called out X, formerly known as Twitter, for being a “toxic and harmful” social media app before stating it was leaving the platform.
Jelly roll is shutting down X (formerly Twitter).
The 39-year-old country singer took to the social media platform to announce he would be leaving X after witnessing the “poisonous” environment on the app.
“This is easily the most toxic harmful app ever – PERIOD. hahaha,” Jelly Roll wrote in X October 20. “This place is different, man, I always heard it was the Wild West here, but man, it’s crazy. It’s a protected place for everyone to say unspoken things to each other without penalty. I’m out haha.”

Just before the “Save Me” singer took to the app to tell fans about his departure, he posted photos of his look at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, where he performed “Mama, I am Coming House” as part of his tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.
After sharing a behind-the-scenes photo with his band and Jack Black with the caption “This is crazy,” one commenter responded, writing, “Jack Black looks really uncomfortable.”
“Jack Black played with us for 10 hours in the green room,” Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, responded, “The coolest, most comfortable guy I’ve ever met in my life, haha.”
The announcement also comes after some cryptic tweets from Jelly Roll, in which he said he plans to prove that the music industry is “sticky.”
“I realized a lot about how disgusting the music business is this week, never fear, you know I’ll be exposing it soon. This whole factor is smoke and mirrors for you all. Everything Russ is saying is REAL! he mentioned in a Tweet from October 18th.
He later responded to the tweet on Oct. 19, including, “Man you guys made a mountain out of a molehill with this one. All these weirdly dramatic comments about promoting souls and bizarre satanic things are just bizarre. lol. I’ll be talking about all of this on my wife’s podcast soon.”

Although Jelly Roll’s account remains active until now, it is also not the first time he has taken a break from social media.
