Sister Wives canceled?!
It’s an idea that seemed impossible to anyone who loved TLC a few years ago, but given the current state of the Brown family, it actually seems more like a certainty.
And in that sense, should the show continue, in light of Kody’s three failed marriages and in the wake of a family tragedy?
The truth is that it’s up to the family and the network to decide whether the program will continue – and one of the former’s members says the writing is on the wall.
And to be frank, even if they wanted to continue with the show, it doesn’t seem like fans are that interested in continuing!
Meri Brown believes in TLC Sister Wives ‘It’s not something that will last forever’
This fall, Sister Wives returned with the 19th season. So if the show is about to be canceled, we at least have this final season to enjoy.
But does it need to go beyond that? Meri openly discussed the future of the hit TLC show on an episode of The Sarah Fraser Program which aired before the premiere of season 19. Your thoughts? It’s time to wrap things up.
“You know, it’s hard to say, ‘Is it getting bigger? Is it a descent? I mean, we’ve been dating for a long time and it’s not something that’s going to last forever. You know? It’s just not,” Meri said while appearing on the Monday, July 22, podcast with her best friend, Jenn Sullivan.
“No show lasts forever. Right? But you can’t predict that either. You know? I don’t think we ever would have thought it would have taken this long. Do you know what I mean? And we have,” she said.
Fans are ready for the show to end
At the start of this latest season, fans were taken back in time: December 2022, to be exact.
Why it takes so long to reverse episodes of the show is still unclear, but it’s pretty standard for reality TV programming. Still, a lot has happened in the lives of the Brown family in the last year and a half, and those who tune in find it difficult to care about events that happened a long time ago.
“This season sucks,” one user posted on Reddit. “A bunch of random, self-filmed, poorly selected scenes that were fragmented and called ‘reality shows.’ …Very bored and losing interest.”
It’s a sentiment that has been shared by many fans on social media. Given that events take place well before Christine’s remarriage, Meri’s big move to Utah, and the death of a beloved son, it’s hard to care about Season 19.
“If they don’t start ramping this up, I think they’re going to lose a huge portion of the fan base,” another fan added about the season, while another admitted that they watched most of the season on social media. media due to so much old footage.
“The constant flashbacks are so annoying too!! I feel like more than half of what we got in these episodes was footage from previous seasons. There’s no point watching it live anymore. I just got the new tiktok clips.”
Should the show continue after Garrison Brown’s death?
Additionally, in the wake of the tragedy, many are wondering if the show should continue or if it should actually be canceled.
In fact, there are those who are close to Garrison and demand an end to the show.
In early 2024, Kody and Janelle Brown trim died at the very young age of 25.
The son of Sister Wives cast members Janelle and Kody Brown, Garrison committed suicide by gunshot wound on March 5.
Garrison appeared in several episodes of Sister Wives and has been in the news quite frequently in recent years due to his feud with his father. In fact, as of press time, Kody has yet to speak personally about his son’s passing.
He and Janelle confirmed the news on Instagram in identical statements.
“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of everyone who knew him.
“His loss will leave a hole in our lives so big it will take our breath away. We ask that you respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.”
Kody confessed to being a horrible fatherwhile Janelle said on Sister Wives: Look Back special in December 2022 that Garrison was “somewhat” in communication with Kody.
But she also made it clear at that time that there was “no reconciliation” between father and son.
Again, it’s all extremely sad.
It’s just a heartbreaking tragedy.
But many watchers now can’t help but wonder if this will have an impact on the future of this TLC series.
Was ‘Sister Wives’ Canceled After Garrison’s Death?
As we said, Sister Wives Season 19 It’s an attempt.
Cameras are currently filming episodes that could air as early as fall 2024.
However, is it really appropriate to air these episodes after Garrison’s death?
How will it be any plot will be received, how will executives justify coverage any topic, is this NOT Garrison’s suicide?
And if Sister Wives becomes a show dedicated solely to the tragedy of Garrison Brown, might it seem like the producers are exploiting the young man’s passing?
There is no easy answer here. And there is no clear answer either.
What we do know is that although many members of the Shared words from the Brown family Out of shock and sadness in response to this tragedy, Garrison’s friend Bryson Cook called for the show to be canceled on his friend’s behalf.
On March 11, Cook shared a handful of photos of himself, Garrison and a few other friends, writing a long caption alongside this montage that began:
“You told me you would always be there for me. You said you would talk about my future wedding and that you would like us all to live next door to each other once we get settled.
“I remember the days when you were the one who convinced me to stay for three hours at church.”
“I remember the nightly conversations about life and the future. I’m mad at you, Robert, I’m mad that you left without talking to me one last time. I KNOW I’ll be able to see you again and we’ll be able to hug then, but for now I’m angry…. I miss you, friend.
Of particular interest to many observers, Bryson concluded his statement by including the hashtag #cancelsisterwives
He did not give further details.
The price of the show for children
Janelle and Kody have five children besides Garrison, who fans met on-air in 2010: Madison, Logan, Gabriel, Hunter and Savanah.
Over the years, as previously mentioned, Kody’s relationship with his children became strained.
In a confessional interview at a certain point in 2022, Janelle expressed concern about his children’s lack of connection with their father.
“I have been worried about my boys’ mental health. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he’s also the kid who doesn’t say anything,” she said before adding that Garrison “just seems angry or more sad, like, he’s not as carefree as he used to be.”
Added Kody in a May 2023 episode:
“It’s been a while since I’ve had contact with Gabriel and Garrison.
“I’m very sad that I’m not closer (to them). There were so many things in our lives that we did that were rich together, you know, just special experiences.
“I think and hope that with time we will overcome this and that we will be safe to be together again. Right now, there isn’t really an open door for Gabe and Garrison.
“They are not willing to involve me.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Lt. Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department confirmed the following:
“On 3/5/2024, Flagstaff Police Officers responded to a report of a death inside a home.”
FPD confirmed that Garrison’s brother, Gabriel, “discovered the deceased Mr. Brown” in an apparent suicide.
TLC then issued a statement that said:
“We are devastated to learn of the tragic loss of Garrison Brown. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere sympathies to the Brown family at this difficult time.”
