New Democracy MP Giorgos Vlachos insisted on his criticism of “red” loans, following confrontation he had in Parliament with the Minister of National Economy Kostis Hatzidakis.
Speaking to Ant1 today, Mr Vlahos stated that he still has doubts about the “red” loans.
At the same time, he defended the freedom of deputies to express their opinion and repeated the statement he made during the ND KO meeting that his vote should not be taken for granted in general, but also for the Presidency of the Republic, adding that first wait for the party’s proposal.
“Let’s see ND’s opinion Let’s see the characteristics of the proposal, the policies… Some who swear and are called right-wing, that doesn’t tell me anything. You know, in the past we voted for a President of the Republic who came from the other faction, Karolos Papoulias, Konstantinos Stephanopoulos, who were very successful presidents.”
“The party doesn’t even call us rebels, third parties call us rebels”
The ND member rejected the designation of “guerrillas” for himself and other MPs who co-signed parliamentary questions with him. “We support the government, but we also have the task of parliamentary control. Furthermore, the party doesn’t even call us rebels. The guerrillas call us third parties. The opposition, when criticizing the government, always has an ulterior motive to win politically. We, if our initiative for a parliamentary question is successful and we “win”, ND itself wins”. observed.
Regarding the questions-interventions on the issues of red loans, rigor and the Energy Exchange, he noted that: “This is not a “right of the people” but a social State, which the ND serves. based on its founding values. There are measures that we ourselves voted on as deputies. However, when we see that a measure we voted on does not work, we indicate changes to that measure that we could pursue as a government.”
