Rick Cantor is embracing his role as the mastermind behind the notorious “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal…but he’s already returned to counseling aspiring students while he serves his sentence.
The controversial figure, serving the remainder of his 3.5 year prison sentence in a California halfway house, told ‘GMA’ that even shortly after the scandal broke – when it was revealed that he was helping rich kids pay for special admission to elite colleges – desperate parents were yet inundating him with requests to pull the same strings for his own children.
Rick has made it clear that after his prison sentence is served, he is confident he will be able to legally restart his business again, helping students get into college or the workforce – especially since he is already doing that now.
When it comes to the crimes he was accused of, Rick admitted he was 100% wrong. But when asked about the fairness of getting someone a spot on a university sports team through unethical means – while hard-working students are left in the dust – he showed little remorse, shrugging his shoulders and saying it all depends on the university coach.
He also added that he never bribed anyone and that word didn’t even cross his mind. Instead, he called the cash flow a “donation”… and still insists the entire scandal was a victimless crime.
