Valtteri Bottas recently launched his debut singlebut the Finnish Formula 1 driver did not provide vocals or play any instruments.
At the moment streaming on Spotifythe track—titled “Valtteri’s Flight”— was made using Bottas’ biometric data as he drove around Thunderhill Raceway in California in an Audi R8. It was a marketing coup for data analytics company Hyland, Bottas’ personal sponsor as well as official partner of the Sauber F1 team, for which he currently drives.
Bottas was connected to sensors that measured things like heart rate, brain activity, sweat production and breathing. The collected data was then delivered to producers and composers and transformed into approximate material. three minute trackwhat is currently streaming on Spotify.
Although it is not clear whether music derived from biometric data is finally about to have his moment, Bottas could soon be forced to change careers. He is one of the few drivers currently on the F1 grid without a confirmed seat for 2025. Bottas made his F1 debut with Williams in 2013 but joined the Mercedes-AMG team in 2017 following the surprise retirement of defending champion Nico Rosberg. He scored all 10 wins with the Silver Arrows before switching to Alfa Romeo (as the Sauber team was then known) in 2022 to make way for George Russell.
Bottas has partnered with Zhou Guanyu since arriving at Sauber, which abandoned the Alfa Romeo brand after 2023 in anticipation of the Audi takeover. Since then, Audi completed a 100% acquisition by Sauber and named Nico Hulkenberg as its first pilot, but has not yet announced plans for its second seat. This leaves Bottas, who remains one of the most experienced drivers on the grid, with a potential opening to remain with the team for a while longer.
