Liam Paynesister and father, Ruth Gibbins and Geoff Payne, they are mourning the loss of his brother and son, respectively. The ‘One Direction’ singer died on October 16, aged 31. In addition to family and friends, the artist is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear.
Days after Liam’s fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina, his father flew to the country to identify his body, arrange transport and visit the hotel where he died. Meanwhile, a day later, Ruth wrote a moving public message about the unexpected death.

His death is still under investigation. However, earlier this week an Argentine police officer claimed that Liam “jumped”. The crash occurred after the hotel manager called 911 due to a guest’s alleged erratic behavior in the lobby and in his room.

As mentioned, BBC reports that Geoff visited the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 18th. Upon arriving at the scene, Liam’s grieving father was surrounded by paparazzi.
Fans tried to give Geoff Payne some privacy by raising their arms to block camera flashes as his father read messages of tribute outside the hotel. There were hundreds of notes, photos, flowers and matching candles wrapped around a street lamp.
Liam Payne’s sister breaks silence on his death
On Saturday (October 19), Liam Payne’s sister spoke about the pain of losing her brother. She posted a lengthy statement on Instagram and throwback photos of her and Liam laughing, hanging out, celebrating their wedding and more.
She opened the letter by talking generally about him, remembering their bond and their life as his sister. In a second slide, she directly addressed her late brother. Ruth wrote that she is “struggling to keep up with what is happening.” Liam Payne’s sister added that she wants to meet him at his house writing a song and sit down with him in another artistic phase. She remembered the traits she loved about her brother. His list included his ability to make her laugh, how he accomplished everything he tried, his kindness, and Sunday dinners.
“I don’t think this world was good or kind enough to you, and many times in the last few years you had to try really hard to overcome everything that was being directed at you. You just wanted to be loved and make people happy with your music. You never believed you were good enough, I hope now you can see this wave of love that you never received in your time. Thank you for changing my life, thank you for the amazing memories, thank you for being the best brother and friend I will ever have! We will take care of Bear and he will always know how amazing his dad is and how much you idolize him.”
To end the letter, she apologized for not being able to “save” him. “…I would drive to the end of the universe to bring you back,” Ruth Gibbins wrote.
Since Liam’s death on Wednesday, his son’s mother, Cheryl Coleand his girlfriend at the time of his death, Kate Cassidythey spoke.
